Inspired by Nature. Designed for Life.

Plan a landscape designed for your home, your climate, and your life.

CALHANS Outdoor Studio looks at your actual property — its location, sunlight, drainage, existing features, wildlife pressure, your budget, the styles you love and the amount of maintenance you are happy to take on — and turns all of it into a personalized planting plan with quantities, spacing and a shopping list.

  • Your ZIP code and region
  • Sun, shade and drainage
  • The care you want to give

What you receive

A written design strategy, plant-by-plant recommendations, quantities and spacing, a shopping list with estimated totals, and a planting timeline.

How it works

Four steps from bare yard to a plan you can plant.

  1. 01

    Tell us about the property

A short guided intake — nickname, ZIP code, property type, yard size and the area you want designed. Eleven small steps instead of one overwhelming form.

  2. 02

    Add photographs

Upload a wide shot of the area, a few angles and anything that has to stay. Your photos are stored privately with your property and are there when you return.

  3. 03

    Describe the conditions

Sun, drainage and soil, in plain language. Every question has an I don't know option, and unknowns never block your plan.

  4. 04

    Review your landscape plan

A written strategy, recommended plants with the reason each one was chosen, quantities, spacing, a shopping list and an optional phased budget.

Example plans

Three properties, three completely different plans.

The same questionnaire produces very different answers depending on light, wildlife pressure and how much gardening the homeowner wants to do.

Front entry and foundation beds

Evergreen structure at the corners, a repeating flowering layer along the walk, and low groundcover to keep mulch in place.

Full sun · average drainage · low maintenance

Backyard screening and terrace

Upright shrubs and tall grasses to close a sightline, with a softer perennial edge where the family actually sits.

Partial sun · deer pressure · moderate maintenance

Why homeowners use it

Built for people who know nothing about plants — and useful to people who do.

The right plants, not just pretty ones

Recommendations are filtered against your reported light, drainage, hardiness range and care tolerance before anything reaches your plan.

Quantities and spacing included

Every recommendation carries a suggested quantity, mature size and recommended spacing, so beds are planted once and correctly.

Honest budget math

Estimated unit prices and container sizes roll up into a project total, and any plan can be split into affordable phases.

Deer, pets and children considered

Deer and rabbit resistance ratings plus pet and child safety notes travel with each plant record instead of being an afterthought.

Your property, not a template

Photos of the actual area stay attached to the property so plans reference what is really there, including features that must remain.

Plant now, finish later

A seasonal timeline separates what to plant now, next season and later, so nothing goes in the ground at the wrong time.

From the plant library

Every plant carries the facts your plan depends on.

From the first plans

Homeowner stories are being collected as the first plans go in the ground.

CALHANS Outdoor Studio is early, and we would rather show you nothing than invent a review. As the first properties are planted we will publish real before-and-after photographs and the homeowners' own words — with their names, their regions and the plans they actually installed.

Completed a plan? Send us photographs of the installed beds and we will feature your transformation here.
